Contribute Financially

Tax-deductible donations can be designated to subsidize new student members’ lifetime membership fee, currently set by the National Society at $85. Donations can also be made to fund the initiation program for new members and Chapter outreach programs. There are two ways to make an online donation:

  • DonorBox accepts credit card payments and provides a tax receipt.
  • The Chapter’s BluPeak Credit Union account accepts electronic transfers through Zelle and Venmo. Use the email address pbk@ucsd.edu to identify the account.

Sigma Chapter is a member-managed and member-funded 501(c)(3) organization.The Chapter’s EIN number is available upon request.

Volunteer

The Chapter relies on faculty, staff and graduate students who were initiated into Phi Beta Kappa as undergraduate students for virtually all we do. These volunteers screen and select new student members; reach out to invited students to encourage them to join; plan and participate in the initiation of new members; publish a semi-annual newsletter to members; manage the website; and serve as officers of the Chapter. With more volunteers, outreach programs for the campus – such as sponsoring visiting scholars or programs for rising seniors – would be possible.
